Nima Fahimian, MD – Medical Director

Dr. Nima Fahimian, is double board-certified in both Integrative Medicine and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Fahimian is well known for advancing the field of psychiatry with his particular expertise in psychopharmacology, biofeedback, and Express TMS. With a head for research and a heart for clinical care, Dr. Fahimian ensures that his patients are treated with the most effective, up-to-date, and safest treatments available. Dr. Fahimian was trained at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where he was appointed to be the Chief Resident during his psychiatry residency. Dr. Fahimian has held faculty appointments at UC Davis, UC Irvine, and is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at UC Riverside.

Gezel Saheli, MD – Psychiatrist

Dr. Saheli attended medical school at TUMS and completed her post graduate trainings at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and New York Medical College, where she served as a delegate at the Committee of Interns and Residents. She started her postgraduate journey in Internal Medicine, where counseling anxious patients and effective patient centered individualized communication turned out to be the most rewarding part of her training. This experience led her to pursue integrative wellness approaches to improve patients’ physical and mental health. Dr. Saheli is committed to providing thoughtful and individualized treatment to those she serves. Her hobbies include hiking, dancing, and volunteering in fundraising events for charities and schools.

Judith Leitich, FNP – Medical Director

Judith is a board certified Nurse Practitioner with 20 years experience as a registered nurse working at USC, Stanford and Kaiser. She is passionate about patient care and overall wellness with a focus on comprehensive mental health management. Judith strives to provide compassionate high quality patient first care and mental health services across lifespan.

Mary Watson, MD – Medical Director

Dr. Watson is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with training in both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. After receiving her M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine, she completed her medical internship and psychiatry residency at UC Davis Medical Center. She has completed mentorships with top professionals in the fields of Psychoanalysis and Mindfulness Therapy in addition to utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Jungian Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Relational Therapy and other approaches. She has worked in educational, crisis assessment, inpatient, intensive outpatient and private practice settings. Her emphasis is on helping clients recognize entrenched patterns of behavior and make informed choices in the present moment to create one’s preferred experience of reality. She prescribes medication or vitamin supplements where appropriate, always cognizant of the bigger context.

Kate Graen, MMS, PA-C – Psychiatric Physician Assistant

After double majoring in biology and psychology at Arizona State University and graduating with summa cum laude honors, Kate went on to receive her Master of Medical Science degree in physician assistant studies at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During her academic journey, she placed a special emphasis on molecular neurobiology and genetics in the context of psychiatric disorders. Kate enjoys working with her patients to create individualized treatment regimens for their unique needs, situations, and goals. Kate employs a holistic approach, and is well-versed in drug-gene testing and alternative treatment modalities such as transcranial magnetic stimulation and neurofeedback. Prescribing the most effective treatment protocols, including medication, lifestyle adjustment, social and educational support, behavior modification, and psychotherapy, is her lifelong commitment and she will always endeavor to go the extra mile in patient education, safety, trust, and wellbeing.

Gavin Dawson, PA – Physician Assistant & Ketamine Specialist

Gavin Dawson is a board-certified Physician Assistant, founder of the medical education company Global Emergency Medics, a Lead Instructor of wilderness medicine courses, and a dedicated researcher to the ever-expanding world of psychedelic medicine. After double majoring with honors at the University of Colorado in Neuroscience and Integrative Physiology plus a minor in Philosophy, he went on to complete his graduate studies at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Gavin’s ability to create an environment of trust and support sets him apart in the world of medicine. Gavin is a true team player who thrives working in collaboration with his patients, always remaining focused on empowering his patients to take charge of their health and find vitality.

Glory Forrest, RN – Infusion Nurse

Glory is a Registered Nurse who is passionate about mental health and wellness and strives to treat her patients holistically. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the UCLA School of Nursing and brings skills and experience from a variety of clinical settings including ER, Medical Surgical Telemetry, Preoperative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. She is compassionate, empathetic, and enjoys assisting patients through their ketamine infusions.

Douglas Caine, Psy.D. – Therapist

Dr. Caine is a a clinical psychologist, a San Francisco native, and a bassist. He pursued a career in psychotherapy after seeking his own treatment two decades ago, whereby he was astounded at the degree in which he was able to turn his life around. Dr. Caine earned his doctoral degrees from Ryokan College, founded a multi-state sober coaching business, and even became a featured provider in A&E’s series Relapse: The Sober Coach Chronicles. Dr. Caine’s dedication, expertise, and unique life experiences have earned him an outstanding reputation in depression and anxiety treatment.

Shelby Alkire, LCSW – Therapist

Shelby Chantilly Alkire joins TMS & Brain Health as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and clinical therapist. Shelby is a graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work and has been practicing in the field of Social Work and Mental Health for over 10 years. Shelby has held many positions and titles within the field of mental health and addiction, including Mental Health Therapist, Family Therapist, Clinical Director, Executive Director, Program Director, and CEO. She also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Social Work department at Azusa Pacific University where she is an alum. Shelby is passionate about helping people integrate their mind and body to experience their emotions holistically. She is trained in EMDR therapy, a modality that treats a wide array of diagnoses including, but not limited to: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Panic Disorder, and Chronic Pain. Shelby is also a Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT-200) and has taught yoga classes in San Diego, CA and Indonesia.

Kathleen San Filippo, LMFT – Therapist

Kathleen is a licensed MFT and certified as a Clinical Trauma Specialist. She has spent the last 20+ years working in a variety of capacities serving the mental health community through private practice, residential treatment facilities, sober living facilities, non-profit organizations, schools and colleges, and outreach opportunities. Kathleen has extensive experience with both youth and adults, with particular specialties in anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, and addiction. She is often told that she is easy to talk to, and yet still straight forward and challenging in a way that promotes progress. She has developed a reputation for finding success with clients who have failed to thrive in the traditional “office therapy” environment.

Sarah Pauker, LPCC – Therapist

Sarah Pauker, M.A, is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked in the mental health field since 2009. She has extensive experience in treating people with a wide range of mental health challenges, and specializes in the treatment of anxiety and depression. She integrates traditional and nontraditional therapies, including insight-oriented psychotherapy, art therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and other mind-body techniques.

Setareh Vatan

Setareh Vatan, AMFT, APCC – Therapist

Setareh is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who utilizes depth psychology as a foundation in her therapeutic work with individuals suffering from various dependencies and co-occurring mental health conditions. She has received numerous comprehensive trainings in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapeutic modalities, including the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy training, as well as in Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy. She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Setareh is an advocate for the soul and works in the service of the psyche to bring unconscious material to the conscious to facilitate transformation and growth. She is a lover of animals and nature, and a connoisseur of adventures.

Sarah Bitar, AMFT – Therapist

Sarah is a Lebanese American dedicated to the wellness and mental health of others. She understands that trauma is no stranger to many of us, so Sarah actively works on the cultivation of safe spaces to process and heal those traumas. Though she has earned a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from USC, she continues to be a lifelong learner. The primary pillars of her work with clients are safety, freedom, and holistic healing.

Julia Baschiera, M.A. – Program Director

Julia received a master’s degree in Integrative Health and holds certifications in Holistic Health & Wellness Coaching, Guided Imagery, Patient Navigation and Advocacy, and has completed numerous programs pertaining to mindful education. She is currently studying to become an Addiction Recovery & Psychedelic Integration Coach. Julia believes in the power of effectively holding space for others so that they can tap into their natural ability to learn, heal, and grow.

Andres Cohen, BS – Lead Neuromodulation Technician

Andres graduated from the University of California, San Diego where he helped conduct research focused on understanding how behavioral goals influenced perception, decision making, and memory and understanding the neurobehavioral underpinnings of high-risk behaviors. He brings this passion for research along with TMS experience to the team and believes in the importance of helping patients feel comfortable and well informed with their treatment.

Jadyn Oman – TMS Technician

Jadyn has 10 years of experience in a patient care setting, and strives for success when working with all of her patients. Jadyn’s drive to discover the importance of how a healthy lifestyle affects the body physically and mentally has led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences. Her interests in non-pharmaceutical methods to heal and strengthen the mind and body are what attracted her to the offerings at TMS & Brain Health.

Dominic Marquez-Necochea, BA – Neuromodulation Technician

Ever since he can recall, Dominic has been fascinated with peak performance. He attended San Diego Christian College on a baseball scholarship with dreams of going pro, but was forced to find a different path after a career-ending injury. Dominic recognized that he could take his passion for peak performance and apply it to brain-based treatments. Dominic has expertise and certifications in many neuromodulation modalities, including biofeedback, neurofeedback, and TMS. Dominic brings a unique blend of stability, compassion, friendliness, and maturity to each session.

Andrew Atkeson, BS – TMS Technician

Andrew first developed an interest in the connection between mind and body when he was a competitive gymnast at 4 years old. He later attended Arizona State University where he received a dual BS in marketing and psychology, which helped to inspire his passion for mindfulness and meditation. During school, Andrew taught meditation and breathing exercises to reduce anxiety and increase athletic performance. These experiences have shaped Andrew’s passion for expansion of non-pharmaceutical methods to train the brain and live a more present life.

Nicholas Baez, BS – TMS Technician

Nicholas graduated from Colorado State University after obtaining his Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. He moved to California shortly after, and intends to pursue a future career as a Physician Assistant. He has past experience working with ketamine in a clinical setting, which quickly ignited his passion for mental health treatments outside of standard medication regimens. Nicholas is dedicated to understanding and supporting patients in order to create a welcoming and professional space for treatment.

Mara Farrand, MSc – Patient Care Manager

Since she was young, Mara has been passionate about learning how the brain functions, especially in relation to mental health. Mara attended graduate school at King’s College London and earned a Masters of Science degree in Forensic Mental Health Research. She is excited to use her knowledge of evidence-based treatments for mental health and see the benefits firsthand in a clinical setting. Taking from her experiences abroad, she also hopes to help make mental health care more accessible in America. Mara is delighted to be a part of the team and to be there to guide patients through every step of the process.

Jesika Bishop – Patient Care Coordinator

Jesika is a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach who has been working in a direct patient care role since 2016 in a variety of settings, ranging from naturopathic medicine to acupuncture. As she has always expressed a deep desire to help others, especially when it comes to optimal health and wellness, Jesika left her career in the beauty industry in 2016 to pursue a path dedicated to assist individuals achieve optimal health and wellness. Jesika is currently working towards a certification as an ADAPT Functional Health Coach, which will allow her to broaden her impact with the individuals and groups she is able to serve.

Rayana Villalpando, M.A., PsyD Candidate – Patient Care Coordinator

With over four years in counseling and another four years in TMS, Rayana is our main technician at our downtown office. Rayana is in the process of obtaining her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University. An athlete all her life, Rayana attended Indiana Tech on a full scholarship, and wishes to have a career in helping professional athletes through the retirement process and reducing the stigma of mental health for minority cultures. Rayana has obtained advanced training in CBT, ACT, and psychotherapy.

Stephanie Mora – Business Development Representative

Stephanie is head of the Business Development department at TMS & Brain Health. She has roughly 13 years of sales and business development experience. She joined the team because she is passionate about helping people and about alternative, evidence-based therapies for mental health. She has a BA in Psychology and is excited about returning to the industry that has interested her since she was very young.

Ben Spielberg, M.S. – Founding Neuroscientist & Chief Executive Officer

With almost a decade in the field of brain-based behavioral health under his belt, Ben is more passionate about mental health now than ever. Ben went to graduate school at Columbia University and received a Master of Science degree in Neuroscience and Education. During graduate school, Ben developed a specialty in clinical neuromodulation and neuroimaging, where he used brain scans to predict off-label uses for TMS, neurofeedback, and Ketamine. Ben’s research has been published in prestigious journals such as Brain Stimulation and ACR Open Rheumatology, and presented at The Clinical TMS Society, The International Neuropsychological Society, and the Western Psychological Association. Ben prides himself in bringing together the special team of individuals that makes up TMS & Brain Health.

Hank Spielberg, Chief Comfort Officer

Hank prides himself in providing additional therapeutic relief to our existing treatments. Hank enjoys greeting new patients at the door, lying next to them during TMS, and subsequently walking them back to the door. When he is not working, Hank enjoys long naps and cheese. Note that due to allergies, Hank only comes into the office by request.
